Greendale

In late 1954 I started a machinist apprenticeship at
Allis-Chalmers. I finished the apprenticeship in 1958 and was laid
off 4 days later. They had people with 10 years service that were
laid off, so after we finished our time, we hit the bricks and never
went back.

After a year of working in job shops I went to the Ladish
Company in Cudahy. I started out as a tool room machinist and
after ten years put in for a toolmaker opening and got that job. I
worked as a toolmaker for ten years and was asked to go into
supervision. I spent twenty years as a supervisor for Ladish.
Even after I retired in 1999, Ladish called me back twice to help
them out.

In 1957, During my apprenticeship at Allis-Chalmers, I Married
Karen Bahrs. We have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls and 10
Grandchildren. All of our children married Greendale Kids.

I had a Honda Goldwing that Karen and I traveled around the
country for many years and that was a blast. Now with the price
of gas so high we stay in the state.

In the winter I snow blow for some of the women who are alone
for one reason or another and can't handle the snow.

This year the snow has kept me going. We've had 100 inches of
snow this year and maybe more to come.

That's about it - not too exciting but I'm still kicking.
